Important Information for Surf to Stadium 2022

Forsyth Barr Stadium (10km and 4km finish) 

Forsyth Barr Stadium is at 130 Anzac Avenue, Dunedin. Both finish lines for the 10km and 4km are inside the Stadium. The start line for the 4km is at the south end of Magnet Street. If all 4km participants can please assemble at Forsyth Barr Stadium, marshals will be walking participants to the 4km start line. 

 

Kettle Park 

Kettle Park is on Moana Rua Road, South Dunedin. The 10km race/walk starts here. 

 

Parking 

On the day, parking at Forsyth Barr Stadium is available but will be limited. There is plenty of parking available around Forsyth Barr Stadium. Please leave plenty of time before the start of the race to park, walk to the Stadium, and be ready for your race, or to catch a bus to the start of the 10km race (see bus information below). 

 

Parking is available around Kettle Park for those at the start of the 10km race. 

 

Buses 

Free busses will be available to take 10km participants from Forsyth Barr Stadium to the 10km start at Kettle Park. Buses depart at 8.50am, 9.00am, 9.10am, and 9.20am. Buses will leave from the car park at the East of the Stadium (near Gate F). Busses will also be available for return trips to the 10km start line at Kettle Park, from 11.00am till 12.30pm at 15 minute intervals. 

 

Race Start Times 

A race briefing will be held approximately 15 minutes before the start of each race.  

The 10km will start at 10.00am. 

The 4km will start at 10.30am. 

 

Pre-Race Registrations 

Online registrations close on Sunday 21 August at 7.00am, but we will still take registrations during our race pack pick-up times (see below). These registrations will be CASH ONLY. 

10km – $30.00 

4km – Adult $15.00, Child $5.00, Family $30.00 

 

Race Numbers 

Your race number can be picked up: 

  • Friday 19 August, 10.00am – 4.00pm 

  • Saturday 20 August 9.00am – 12.00pm 

This is at the Sargood Centre, Logan Park Drive (please follow the signs). All competitors will be given an adhesive race number. Please stick this to the front of your top. The colour of your race number depends on which race you are competing in. 

For 10km participants, the colour is RED. 

For 4km participants, the colour is BLUE. 

 

If you are unable to make either of these times, your race number can be picked up on the day at the Stadium or Kettle Park, but please allow at least an hour before the start time of your event to do this. 

 

On the Day Registrations 

On the day registrations will be available but please note the increase in prices. These registrations will be CASH ONLY.  

 

4km – Adult $25.00, Child $10.00, Family $50.00 

10km – $40.00 

Please allow plenty of time to register. 

 

Gear Bag 

You can leave a gear bag or backpack for safekeeping at the finish line inside the Stadium at the bag check. A gear bag drop is also available at Kettle Park. This will be taken to the finish line inside the stadium and gear will be placed in the bag check area. 

 

Traffic Management 

All roads are open to traffic. Traffic management is in place for the races. Please follow all instructions given at the race briefing and abide by the traffic management rules and instructions given by the course marshals. 

 

First Aid 

This service is available on the course and at the finish area. If you are feeling distressed or injured, please notify any course marshal and they will summon assistance for you. 

 

Water 

Water is available on the course at the halfway mark for the 10km race/walk (near the Molars) and at the finish for all participants. We recommend you bring your own bottle where possible to limit the amount of plastic and paper used. 

 

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS! 

  • The roads are open to traffic in both directions and normal pedestrian and cycle rules apply. 

  • Keep to the footpath, where possible. 

  • Where there is not footpath, keep to the left hand side of the road. 

  • No more that two abreast. Be aware of other pedestrians and cyclists. 

  • Adhere to any instructions given by Traffic Controllers and Marshals. 

  • The marshals are there to help but it is each participant’s responsibility to take care. 

  • Do not use a music listening device while competing. 

  • All entrants participate at their own risk, as declared on the entry form. 

 

Timing 

There is no official timing for the race. A finish line clock will be operating giving the completion times and you are welcome to time the race on your own device.

The Hits Family Zone and Entertainment 

The Hits Family Zone will have activities, food, and music for the whole family. 

 

Facilities 

There will be a range of food and beverage vendors available at the Stadium. Please bring cash. 

 

Spot Prizes 

Please check the notice board at the finish line to see if you have won a spot prize. You must produce your race number for collection. In addition, our race staff will be out on the course looking for people who have either dressed up and who we feel deserve a random spot prize.
